Invisalign FAQ: Common Questions About Invisalign

Invisalign in Torrance, CA

At Breeze Orthodontics, we have answered some of the most common questions we hear, so you can better understand the Invisalign process. Our Torrance orthodontists, Dr. Rita and Dr. Eckhart, have been a Super Elite Invisalign Provider with a great deal of experience in all types of orthodontic treatments.

Are Invisalign braces expensive?

They cost about the same as traditional metal braces in most cases.

How does Invisalign work?

Each aligner puts a small pressure on many teeth simultaneously, and they move in response to the pressure. The distance of movement is only what is biologically possible in a two week period.

Are they invisible?

Invisalign braces are almost invisible.

How long do you have to wear them each day?

20 - 22 hours a day.

Can I just use the Invisalign braces while I sleep?

No - you need to wear them 20 - 22 hours each and every day for results.

Do you eat with your Invisalign braces on?

No, you take them off to eat, brush your teeth and to floss.

How long does the process take?

The average case takes about 12 months for adults. For teens it can be less, and you should talk to our Torrance orthodontists to find out what could be expected.

Are Invisalign braces uncomfortable?

They are usually painless, although some people have minor temporary discomfort for a few days at the beginning of each new stage of the treatment.

How often do I have to see the orthodontist during my treatment?

About once every 8-12 weeks. This is to check and ensure that the treatment is progressing properly.

What if I have a very serious problem with my teeth?

Some types of conditions cannot be fully handled by Invisalign braces, but may require metal braces also. You must have your unique situation evaluated to find out how your smile will be treated for best results.

Does every dentist offer Invisalign?

No - it requires special and ongoing training to be able to offer Invisalign braces to patients.
